Quantum mechanics explained with a traffic light. 🚦

Most people think quantum mechanics is a completely different set of physics rules from the ones we use every day. It's not. It's the same rules. Just applied at a different scale. 🧵

Classical physics works perfectly at human scale.

Quantum mechanics is what you need when the grain of reality becomes impossible to ignore.

Quantum mechanics explained with a traffic light. 🚦

Driving on a motorway: simple. Time = Distance ÷ Speed. ✅

Driving through a city: different story.

Traffic lights cycle every 3 minutes. Your wait is always a multiple of 3. Sometimes 0. Sometimes 3. Sometimes 6.

Never 1.7. Never 4.2. Always in steps. 📊

That stepped, grainy, discrete structure?

That’s exactly what quantum mechanics describes at the scale of atoms.

🔬 Electrons don’t orbit at any distance. Only specific distances. Like rungs on a ladder.

⚡ Energy isn’t absorbed in any amount. Only specific packets. Nothing in between.

💡 Light isn’t emitted continuously. Only in exact bursts matching the energy gap.

The motorway formula works on motorways. Classical physics works at human scale.

But in a city, you need to account for the traffic lights. At atomic scale, you need quantum mechanics. 🌌
